Keren Tá Cultural Center

Keren Tá in tzeltal menas ‘the children of la Merced’, it stands as a cultural space in the upper floor of Raul Mejía’s shop. After the low sales following the 2018 fire in the market, Raul dedicated a space in his shop to offer cultural activities to the children of neighboring shops. It slowly got expanded to offer activities to all the children in La Merced.

In defense of la Merced

I am the third generation of my Family in La Merced, the oldest borough in Mexico City. I am proud to help preserve the historical and cultural memory of this legacy that dates to prehispanic times.
